The focus during a yoga session is to get your body and mind in a completely relaxed state, working on your yoga skills and meeting other like-minded people that want to achieve the same goals as you.

Yoga retreats go a step further. During a retreat, depending on the level of the yoga sessions, you either spend 5 days surrounded by yoga and likeminded people, or if you choose a beginners level, you might have a bit more “holiday” than yoga. It all depends on what you prefer.

During a yoga retreat you will practice your yoga poses, meditate and eat healthy, but at the same time, it will be a holiday so you can still go sightseeing and enjoy the surrounding areas.

Yoga retreats often offer packages for all, beginner, experts, younger and older. Anyone can do yoga, there’s no limit to age or agility!

The cost to a yoga retreat varies too, from 80€ up to 300€ per night, it all depends what is included.

A good yoga retreat will offer an all-inclusive deal with healthy and organic breakfast, lunches and dinners. You will get different healthy juices and there will be water available throughout the day.

How to Go About Finding Yoga Retreats

You can find yoga retreats in practically any corner of the planet. The good retreats are usually found near touristic places and close to an airport so you won’t have to travel too far. You should ask your local yoga studio for tips, they usually know the best places to go too, in fact they might organize a few trips themselves each year!

You can do an online search for yoga retreats in Marbella for example. You will find many luxury resorts, and there are a few really good ones such as The Palms Spain that organizes specific yoga retreats in their resort with 12 bedrooms.

You should look for a retreat that has other activities in the surrounding area so you can still enjoy a bit of a holiday and are not stuck at the resort all day. The Palms for example offers golf, beach and mountain activities plus hiking tours, but equally is located in a small village with a local pub so you can still go to the town and have a drink with the locals.
